The people from the GVB will walk to the DAM Square where from 14:00h - 18:00 organised by Hete Herfst (http://www.heteherfst.nl), many people will come together from different backgrounds and social issues. The combining factor is that WE ALL REALISE that we really want to change this way of living, the politics, the money system, ecological problems etc etc in order to survive in the beauty of our being here.

The Museum survived as a miracle the inferno in the Sauna!

There where the museum started the fire stopped...

Boxes are brown, some are black, a lot have water damage, a few are the box they've always been and some are gone to heavenly playgrounds.

It is desperate in need of a love treatment from all of us.

It was a tyring weekend moving the museum out of the place that once felt so familiar. Beside that it was also warm and bonding to be there together with the sauna guys, closing of our chapters.

Ruigoord was willing to help us, so we could store the whole museum in the shed where it can dry, breath and come to rest for the moment. In closing of, beautifull ideas rice out of the ashes, from many different people. And as we are creative beings new possiblity's are there to give form and meaning to the museum and her stories.

Plans for Ruigoord are yet to evolve... it is the last move in Amsterdam!! because the museum as it travels now will transform into another way of growing.
But for now everybody who's been involved in the Bohemian journey through the streets of Amsterdam in the last 2,5 years is invited,

De deuren gaan om 21.30 uur open in het paviljoen met een mix van electronic music and performance art van Artificial Happiness (www.nepco.nl). In de Kapel beginnen dj M-Cecile en djMulat.

Om uiterlijk 23.30 zal op strand het ritueel beginnen in de vorm van een uniek nachttheater door Hipsick theatre.

In deze apocalyptische voorstelling moet de raket PS2011 de mensheid redden. Vluchten kan niet meer...

Daarna wordt het een buitengewone nacht in dit komende jaar op aarde met medewerking van:

Beautiful Bohemians,
Thank you all for your warm support, motivations, ideas and references like mandela's in sand and phoenixes...

We share compasion with all people inflicted by the fire; kraakhelder and their wonderful venue "Societeit de Sauna" and friends, artists, neighbours and local businesses. Thanx to the firefigthers and all those who where involved in preventing the fire from eating our city.

"The flag is back, smokin' but not burned."

Today we went back and found out from a big strong friendly firefighter that the second floor is totally burned away. The first floor in the front (where most of the museum was standing) is filled with Amsterdam canal water and smoke. The ground floor is a mess.

Next week, we'll be able to enter the building with the owner to have a look...

Since we see possibilities everywhere, inspiration will rise out of the ashes.

Well all of you bohemians,

The auction from last sunday was a special moment for the museum and its artists, a lot of art has been sold in this 1st auction!
Led by auctioneer Rob Zorab and his 2 angels, who made everybody sit on the edge of their chair or shifting on their toes. In the end the Artist where happy, the buyers where happy and the museum is happy... everybody happy! photo's will follow.
Thanx to all who helped in whatever way to create other opportunitys for the museum LOVE!!

Coming Saturday the 4th of Dec. there's another bohemian 8th day at the Sauna from 16 - 22.

Well hello everybody,

The museum is finding its pace and place in
societeit de Sauna..
Thanx again to everyone who helped out and participated.. it looks super nice.. a place with passion!

Another Bohemian day is coming up this Tuesday 2nd Nov from 16 - 22. Besides exploring the museum, it's a moment to be together and think, talk, share and inspire us all about celebrating 2 years on the road of the Museum of the Bohemian on Saturday the 6th November. What we gonna do during that day / evening before the museum n8? If there's something you would like to add to that day before the n8... come on Tuesday or write an email or make a call.

Do you still have a box you're working on? The next Bohemian Inauguration for new artworks will be on Friday the 26th November.

For the good old feeling from the last days of summer vibes... ARRRggggghhh check out the photo's from Pirates of the Bohemian.. That was another brilliant move, the grachten van Amsterdam where ourrrrghs!

Ship Ahoy a Bohemian Parade!!

Aargg Arrgh Aaargg The Museum is on the road again - this time on WATER!!...
Saturday the 9th of Oct we will sail out of the fine harbour from the NDSM wharf at 14:00 towards the Sauna on the Kerkstraat 58. Arriving at 17:00.

We enjoyed the summer time at the NDSM wharf and met wonderful inspiring people with great spirits.
Thanx theater platform Pick Up, de Kunststad, stichting NDSM-werf, cafe Noorderlicht, guys from M6, Marchfour Marching Band, Robodock and many more.

But, there's a time of coming and flowing... SO join us and help move the museum on a new colourful and happy parade adventure.
The parade will go in boatjes over the river IJ and then through the canals of Amsterdam.
If you have a boatje.. hoist your pirate flag and sail with us, the more the more.
We leave from the gewoonboot by the cafe Noorderlicht.
On the other side in the centre some floating gardens (remember Robert Jasper Grootveld?!) will hook on where more people can enter the parade, information follows on this blog.
At the Sauna we will all get yummy soupy to warm us up and around 19:00 you can spoil yourself with the delicious flavoured food of Vivian's TxOKO.

Dresscode : PIRATES OF THE BOHEMIAN.
(Normally we would be dressed to our bohemian best by VISJUWEEL but unfortunately not this one. So in honour of Visjuweel --> do your best and make something beautiful (or ugly) out of yourself :))

The concept is changed a bit, because live acquires more from us than just organising an inspiring creative movement. We just focus on the Parade and not on organising the big feast after that... its turned into a DO IT YOURSELF party... so if you feel like playing music, sharing poetry, perform a danceje, in need of a group hug, make black eye patches or whatever our imaginative world can think of --> You Do It

Thursday Bohemian day till 19, then come all to Schijnheilig and Damoclash

Cause of the upcoming law against squatting the museum is going this thursday evening to Schijnheilig at the Passeerdersgracht 23 for supporting the squatting movement and its important role in our (cultural) existence.

See text below (in dutch) for information from Damoclash :

De nacht van 30 september op 1 oktober zal Damoclash haar 12e editie beleven,

en wel bij een hele bijzondere gelegenheid, namelijk de intrede van het kraakverbod. Aangezien Damoclash wegens omstandigheden niet op ADM door kon gaan, vindt de avond in kleinere vorm doorgang in

Schijnheilig aan de Passeerdersgracht 23.

We zullen dat verbod ludiek, weerbaar en feestelijk tegemoet treden om deze wet zosnel mogelijk weer tot een dode letter te maken. Niet alleen Damoclash, maar vele initiatieven en talloze woningzoekenden worden bedreigd terwijl eigenaren de

vrijehand krijgen om panden en plekken leeg te laten staan. De 12e damoclash is tegelijkertijd een manifestatie tegen vrijheidsinperking en de rechtse woestijn. Dus neem je politiepet of krakersmuts mee. Samen met Schijnheilig en onze bezoekers zullen we heel lijfelijk duidelijk maken dat en hoe kraken blijft bestaan.

Het wordt een avond van debat, dans, muziek, film, dichtkunst en performance. We

hopen duidelijkheid te scheppen in de onduidelijke situatie rondom het kraakverbod door te beginnen met een debat over kraakstrategieën na het kraakverbod. Gaan we echt ontruimd worden met zijn allen? Bestaat kraken plotseling niet meer na 1 oktober? Verdwijnen leegstand en problemen op de huizenmarkt op magische wijze na het kraakverbod? De politie denkt de komende tijd 200 kraakpanden in Amsterdam te ontruimen. En dat terwijl er niet eens genoeg platte petjes zijn om bekeuringen uit te delen! Wat is de beste manier om te reageren op dergelijke nonsens? Of

gaan we na twaalven gewoon over tot de orde van de dag?

Het debat begint om 20:30 wees er dus vroeg bij!

The MarchFourth Marching Band are coming to play at the Museum of the Bohemian for a special ONE NIGHT ONLY performance as part of their FUN-raiser Tour of Europe to spread JOY TO THE WORLD!!

The MarchFourth Marching Band is a mobile big-band spectacular based out of Portland, Oregon consisting of saxophones, trombones, trumpets and a drum/percussion corps, anchored by electric bass (battery powered!!). Stilt-walkers, dancing girls, flag twirlers, clown antics, and acrobatics are just some of the things you’ll see accompanying this big band.

MarchFourth writes and performs its own material, and also draws inspiration from an eclectic range of worldwide influences, such as Eastern European Gypsy Brass, Samba, Funk, Afro-Beat, Big-Band, Jazz, and Rock music, as well as television, film, circus, and Vaudeville.

The Museum of the Bohemian is opening its doors this Saturday 21st August from 14:00.

It will be a day filled with pleasurable activity and relaxed creativity.

Musicians will play, theatrical experiments will happen, there will be yummy food on the BBBQ , paint can be served, beers be drunken and surprises will happen…................................... later on dj’s will rock the disco-container into more dancing fun than at Lowlands for sure.

Normally we celebrate the inauguration of new boxes halfway during our stay, but due to summer time travelling things are a bit different. Nevertheless if you made your box, bring it to the museum!!!! if you don’t have one yet, come and collect one!

The Buurtboerderij on Sunday 6th June 2010 was a day of Bohemian Gypsy Jazzy Farm Fun...filled with music, poetry, storytelling, fire twirling and the inauguration of the newest Bohemian Museum kistjes!

The programme included gypsy music, soul filling sangria and a Bohemian-BBQ. For our youngest Bohemians, there was face painting and an adventurous treasure hunt around the farm. Schminken and een Avontuurlijke Speurtocht (De Droom van de Vlinderboom)!

A big thank you to the team at the Buurtboerderij and all the BODO's, performers and new artists who joined the Museum & made it a great day!

Hello you all, Bohemian summer time arrived :

The Museum of the Bohemian is on the road again to another cultural location in Amsterdam and invites you to join.

10th of July we leave from the Buurtboerderij, Spaarndammerdijk 319 to the NDSM wharf, tt Neveritaweg 15.

We will travel in a wonderful colourful bakfiets parade cruising through Amsterdam where a trail of happy will follow on our path.

At 12:00 AM the parade starts.

Arriving NDSM +- 14:30 PM.

We will all get dressed by VISJUWEEL (www.visjuweel.com) starts at 10:30

and be accompanied underway by the tunes from ENMONO !! (www.enmono.com)

At the NDSM wharf the museum will be hosted for the upcoming 3 months in a very special super container village next to the Noorderlicht café.

Thanx to the Theatre platform Pick Up and the people from the NDSM. Here we can experiment how the museum is standing on its own.

So as we grow, we like to grow beautiful. Come and let’s make together the Museum of the Bohemian, the most surprising looking box we can imaging. We have some paint, flags, etc, but come and bring along your fantasy and your materials.

This looks like a

DO IT YOURSELF PARTY!

So if there’s anything else you like to add to the day…… Be welcome and add your spirit to the museum. There will be drinks and food and a podium….. Everything else…. We make it happen together. The Museum of the Bohemian is inaugurating our new Bohemian Museumists with their boxes at the Buurtboerderij, Spaarndammerdijk 319.

It's going to be a big GYPSY affair and another super nice Museum event in the last beautiful farm fields of Amsterdam.!

We've got Vardos the great gypsy band all the way from Australia coming over to play with us. And many other musicians will play as well along with loads of other dreams to share... like belly dancing & henna tales, children games, zwaailicht projections & campfire storytelling, a sangria farm bar & flute making, inspirational idea sharing & gastronomical delights.

In the spirit of the true Bohemians, we will celebrate and host a great gypsy feeling all day!! Free entry for everybody with a soul.

The programme and invitation will follow soon...but let your friends know, bring your family along and don't make any other plans for Sunday the 6^th

Herby we invite you all to join us in this years 1st colorful bohemian parade. Both locations are in the east and due to the cold weather we will be walking / riding for an hour. We will all get spectacularly dressed by Visjuweel... and during the parade there will be music, singing, a lot of smiles from people along the road and of course... surprises..

First Birthday News

In the warm friendly atmosphere of Mezrab Art Cage, our 1st birthday unfolded over the course of the afternoon. Beginning with 1930’s 78’s on the gramophone, and then the premiere screening of the fantastic film from our last Bohemian verhuizing - masterfully filmed and edited by Josephine Beijer.

The Little Bohemians were the first to bake their own birthday cake.

At about 4 o’clock the first box of the day arrived and more continued to roll in throughout the night. A special thank you to all the new artists who put in their creative energy and became a part of the Museum. The new boxes are fantastic!

With the arrival of the first box...the performances started and our birthday became the celebration we dreamed of.

Julius Joker gave us his STORY OF STUFF. Followed by Jacob and Sahand with a light improvisation and from then on the night took its own form. With all sorts of performers playing for a full house of attentive listeners, who between performances fed themselves on yummy soup and made aquaintence with the newest bohemian boxes.

A big thank you to all our Bohemian Birthday performers:

Which means its also your birthday because the museum is made by, through and for you,

After a nice year of moving through the streets of Amsterdam and happily hosted by Galeria Schaap, Dokhouse Gallery, de Nieuwe Anita and now Mezrab / Artcage, the museum building blocks are lively filled with stories of the people in more than 140 boxes , 4 cultural places, 7 fantastic bohemian party's with many more performers and three parade's .... THANKS everybody involved for being this museum!!

We are moving again!

After the start in Galerie Schaap came the Dokhouse Galery.

Then for the last 3 months we have enjoyed the fantastically friendly atmosphere of de Nieuwe Anita.

Now……. It's time for Mezrab /Art Cage in Amsterdam-Oost.

Here we will encounter a new cultural centre with a story to tell.

So…..

Saturday 3rd of October will look like this :

2pm - meet at the Nieuwe Anita, Frederik Hendrik straat 111. Get dressed up by Visjuweel and pimp your Bohemian bike into a musical instrument. (got any ideas/materials?? Bring them with you)

4pm - bakfiets bicycle paradewith sounds by the beats bakfiets from Goed Bezig producties.

6pm - arrive at Mezrab/ Art Cage

6.30pm - Feestelijke opening of the Museum of the Bohemian with food, drinks and live music by a mysterious mix of fantastical instruments….. (It's gonna be something special!!)

ParkArt is an market for creatives in the city centre where artists and designers exhibit and sell their work. You can drink a coffee or a beer, eat some home-made food and stroll through the diverse stands with fashion, vintage items, design and art. Besides the stands, there is a combination of music, performances and street theatre that feels like a festival. On this Carless Sunday, ParkArt takes over the parking spaces both in the parking garage and on the street and creates a platform for surprising, innovative and creative ideas. In keeping with the theme of a Carless Sunday, we try to pay some extra attention to creative ‘healthy and green’ alternatives.

ParkArt derives from the plans for an ArtMall in the Tabakspanden. These plans have been initiated and are now being further developed by Langgewagt (residents and users of Spuistraat 219). In collaboration with De Key and the Amsterdam Municipality, Langgewagt is investigating the possibility of developing the Tabakspanden as a future permanent place for arts and creativity. One of the ideas envisions a market like ParkArt occurring on a regular (perhaps weekly) basis.

This second time that this kind of creative market is happening in the parking garage is organised by Langgewagt. Last March's Artmarket was organised by Afarai.

Hallo alle mensen, wat er ging gebeuren gaat gebeuren...

Per 1 juli 2009 moeten wij hier nu ECHT stoppen in Schaap.. behhh

Maar Kom aanstaande Zaterdag 27 Juni langs van 12- 18 voor het gratis snabbelen van prularia in de tenTOONbank en of een borreltje ofzo om afscheid te nemen.

Het was hier werkelijk waar zeer bijzonder en een ieder die hier een schaap ervaring beleefd heeft : bedankt voor jullie positieve bijdrage, wat fijn hoe wij ons allemaal vrij voelde naar elkaar toe en wat een prachtige dingen zijn er samen tot stand gekomen.

Helaas zijn wij niet in staat om deze culturele bloem met een grandioos feest af te sluiten in Schaap, maar misschien komt dat wel omdat we ook nog gewoon doorgaan:

Zondag 28 Juni is er n.l. een veel leukere verhuizing : die van het museum van de Bohémien. Verzamelen bij de Dokhouse gallery, op de plantage doklaan 8. Vertrek 14:00. Als je in een fantastisch kostuum wilt mee wandelen kom dan eerder want VISJUWEEL is er om ons om te toveren tot ...

De meest kleurrijke parade van de stad. Deze gaat van de Dokhouse Gallery naar de Nieuwe Anita’s . Er zijn weer bakfietsen voor alle kistjes: dus wandel of rol een stukje op je eigen fiets mee op deze prachtige dag.

Bij de Nieuwe Anita’s kan men overheerlijk eten en de dorst van de wandel lessen. Lee Mason, Blind Bob and the grill plates, Daan Hofman en een hardcore strijkkwartet zullen de Nieuwe Anita's in een echt Bohémiens Museum veranderen.

Als je een kistje hebt gemaakt : wees erbij !! Als je nog geen kistje hebt gemaakt : Kom erbij !! zoek een kist uit die bij je past en vertel jouw bohémien verhaal..

Hallo Bohemien aller landen,

We willen iedereen bedanken die heeft geholpen, de bands Vurdalak, Lee Mason, Werner, Jacob, Diana Hartog, Miss Whips cuisine en in het bijzonder "Zeekust" Alias Elmer met zijn heerlijke oesters, "Vedette" voor het gerste nat en de bohemien etiquette en onze gastheer Ewan en de Dokhouse gallery. Niet te vergeten de bohemiens en hun nieuwe kistjes

Daarnaast gaat het museum verder reizen om te groeien en te bloeien zondag 28 juni verzamelen tussen 13:00 en 14:00 in de Dokhouse gallery (Plantagedok 10-12) om vervolgens in een kleurrijke bonte verzameling naar de Nieuwe Anita's te gaan. Maar hier krijgt iedereen binnenkort meer nieuws over.

It's time to unveil and inaugurate the newest collection of kistjes and stories to be endowed in the Museum van de Bohémien. Put the date in your agenda... Museum van de Bohémien

Gaat beginnen aan haar maagden reis!

Op donderdag 2 April om 17:00 vertrekken wij hier met zoveel mogelijk bohémiens in een bonte stoet vanaf Galeria Schaap naar de DokHouse Gallery op de plantage Doklaan 8. Onder begeleiding van de anarchistische fanfare, de kistjes en de vlag. Wees erbij!

Aankomst bij DokHouse Gallery rond 18:00. Hier zullen wij het museum opnieuw opbouwen, waarna ons (rond 19:00) een heerlijke maaltijd te wachten staat waarvan iedereen kan genieten tegen een geringe vergoeding. Daarna tot 01:00....

Zal dit alles tot boheemse gezelligheid gedreven worden met Onder andere : De Anarchistische Fanfare, Electrick Soul Circus en de verkenning van de zintuigen, CD presentatie van Cildrensumadre en DJ’s Jimmy and the hitman Franky.

Deze avond is bedoeld om een nieuwe lichting Boheemse museumnisten te verwelkomen om samen met ons het museum verder te laten groeien. Zo zullen we de creativiteit en samenwerkende beleving verspreiden over de stad.

Het Museum zal hier voor 3 maanden te zien zijn. Gedurende die tijd hebben wij voor meerdere donderdag avonden een vrijbrief gekregen om deze fantastische en creatieve omgeving te gebruiken als platform. Dus als iemand iets willen toevoegen, wees vrij en welkom om je idee te delen. We houden jullie op de hoogte.

Kom samen in een Nova Mokum : de arme, de rijke, de vrije.. de Bohémiens!

Helaas kunnen wij hier niet verder werken zoals we dat zouden willen.

De eigenaar staat niet meer toe dat wij hier enig evenement organiseren. De belangrijkste redenen zijn de “feesten” waar teveel positieve participanten op afkwamen, waardoor de veiligheid van het oude gebouw in het geding kwam. Hiermee dus ook de veiligheid van ons (het gebouw bevind zich in een zeer slechte staat en het is wachten op de complete renovatie).

Dus Amsterdam : een ieder die bij de projecten van Schaap betrokken waren en/of hier van genoten hebben... Het was een zeer bijzondere positieve creatieve uiting en beleving !! Bedankt !!... beh super behhh

Dit is jammer voor onze mooie stad, maar goed wij gaan naTuuRlijk verder!!.
Als afsluiting van dit geweldige Schaap jaar hebben we er met zijn allen een heus museum aan over gehouden : het Museum van de Bohémien.

De reis die we hebben aangekondigd voor het museum krijgt steeds meer concrete vormen en hebben bijna alle tassen gepakt. Een ieder die hieraan deelneemt zal hierover zeer binnenkort persoonlijk worden ingelicht.

Nadat het museum zijn vleugels heeft uitgeslagen naar een andere locatie, zal zich in Schaap het tijdelijke hoofdkantoor van het Museum van de Bohémien vestigen. Van waaruit we deze stroming de wind onder de vleugels zullen geven, die het nodig heeft om tot in de hemelen te geraken...

Schaap wenst iedereen hun dromen toe. Wil en er zal gebeuren.

Grand opening of the

Museum of the Bohemian

in Galeria Schaap on the Utrechtsestraat 95.

During Museum n8 (what a night!) Schaap started with the distribution of Wooden Wine Boxes to the Bohemians of Amsterdam. Boxes without borders, floating, flying, free-spirited like us…. In these Boxes Amsterdams’ Bohemians are busy revealing their stories to be integrated as the building blocks of the Museum

Also as exhibits in the museum the following musicians will embelish the atmosphere with their artistic talents.

Voldemar (folk rock), Wilmar de Visser (Solo Contrabass), Papa Q (Bohémien Blues) , Blind Bob and the Grill Plates (Blues), Dicky Deegan (Uillean-pipes), Eva (chanson), Bad Kitten (Fox Folk), La Dolce Vita Strijkkwartet (Joseph Haydn the Bohémien National Anthem), Zimbrabim Sensual Night Circus, Jamming in the Kelder (bring your instrument) surprizes, drinks and delicious soup made by our chief cook Igor will fuel us all during the opening.

Come experience and be inspired to become a part of the Museum

Beh Beh Bohemians! What a gathering of Artistic and Museumistic peoples. Museum night at Galeria Schaap was filled with colourful and creative folk all brought together with the one goal, to create the first Museum of the Bohemian. The Slagerij was transfomed into a box apon box apon box playground. Artists and inspired folk came to claim their box to take home and fill with their Bohemian story. Many are still waiting to be collected !!! so if you put your mark on a box during the party, come and collect it as all exhibits must be returned before November 30.

The Live music ranged from subtle to bombastic, from the singing saw to the Elctro Kelder - you never knew what you were missing until it was almost too late. Absinth, poetry, music, meeting and formation rolling (to be posted another day). What does it take to be a Bohemian in our time? All those who came and all who come to collect a box hold the key.

TO ALL ARTISTS PLEASE COME AND COLLECT YOUR BOX, SEVERAL HAVE ALREADY BEEN RETURNED, THE WORD IS OUT the first MUSEUM OF THE BOHEMIAN is shaping up to be a truely unique eigentijds verhaal ......

Tell your colleagues, remind yourself 30 November is the opening of the MUSEUM, boxes are already travelling through Holland even to England to be filled with Bohemianness. The programme for the 30th is yet to be compiled but it will be including Uilleann pipe player Dicky Deegan, The unveiling of the Flag, Historical information dating back 300 years, piano recital and your personal contribution.
